Burgundy Cloth. Condizione: Fair. No Jacket. Stated First. Burgundy Cloth. Fair/No Jacket. Stated First. Hardback. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 367 pages; 5 p. index; Official U.S. Navy photos; Lt. Col Bayler carries his narrative from Wake Island shortly before Pearl Harbor, through Midway Island and the contest for Guadalcanal. Bayler arranged for radio control and communication between planes and the air base on all three islands, but confides he was also under secret orders. This is an upbeat book on the earlier part of the Pacific War, with eyewitness combat conditions on Guadalcanal. Book condition: Book edges have darkened considerably to a tan color; front cover corners are worn so they show some board underneath; the paper cover on the front endpapers hinge is 80% cracked, but hinge is sevicable; the lower covers are damp-stained circa 1 inch, and the rear half of text is often stained in much of the lower margin and part of some lower lines affected in the centerfold area. Book is complete, quite legible, and sound.
