Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. ICWL is an annual international conference series on Web-based learning that has so far been held in Asia, Europe and Australia. This series represents the cooperationofEuropeanandAsianresearcherstoadvancethe?eldofWeb-based learning. The 9th ICWL 2010 was held in Shanghai, China. ICWL 2010 was jointlyorganizedbytheHongKongWebSociety,ShanghaiUniversity.Shanghai, knownthroughouttheworldasthe"ParisoftheOrient,"isathrivingmetropolis delightfully mixing the West and East, old and new, ancient and modern. It was particularly special to hold ICWL 2010 in Shanghai, as Expo 2010 was held in the same city just before the conference period. This year, we received about 192 submissions. There were a total of 36 full papers and 8 short papers, representing an acceptance rate of about 23%; these papers are included in this LNCS proceedings volume. The authors of these s- missions came from 35 countries and regions, while the authors of the accepted paperscamefrom18countriesandregions.Wewouldliketo thank thereviewers for spending their precious time reviewing the papers and for providing valuable comments that aided signi?cantly in the paper selection process. We would like to especially thank our Organization Chair, Feiyue Ye, for spending an enormous amount of time and e?ort in coordinating the local - rangements. In fact, we would like to thank the entire conference Organizing Committee for their hard work in putting together the conference. In parti- lar, we would like to express our appreciation to our Registration Chair, Jiying (Jean) Wang, and Haoran Xie for their tremendous e?orts in communicating with the authors. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The LNCS journal Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems focuses on data management, knowledge discovery, and knowledge processing, which are core and hot topics in computer science. Since the 1990s, the Internet has become the main driving force behind application development in all domains. An increase in the demand for resource sharing across different sites connected through networks has led to an evolution of data- and knowledge-management systems from centralized systems to decentralized systems enabling large-scale distributed applications providing high scalability. Current decentralized systems still focus on data and knowledge as their main resource. Feasibility of these systems relies basically on P2P (peer-to-peer) techniques and the support of agent systems with scaling and decentralized control. Synergy between grids, P2P systems, and agent technologies is the key to data- and knowledge-centered systems in large-scale environments. This, the 20th issue of Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems, presents a representative and useful selection of articles covering a wide range of important topics in the domain of advanced techniques for big data management. Big data has become a popular term, used to describe the exponential growth and availability of data. The recent radical expansion and integration of computation, networking, digital devices, and data storage has provided a robust platform for the explosion in big data, as well as being the means by which big data are generated, processed, shared, and analyzed. In general, data are only useful if meaning and value can be extracted from them. Big data discovery enables data scientists and other analysts to uncover patterns and correlations through analysis of large volumes of data of diverse types. Insights gleaned from big data discovery can provide businesses with significant competitive advantages, leading to more successful marketing campaigns, decreased customer churn, and reduced loss from fraud. In practice, the growing demand for large-scale data processing and data analysis applications has spurred the development of novel solutions from both industry and academia.

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Identifies Recent Technological Developments WorldwideThe field of grid computing has made rapid progress in the past few years, evolving and developing in almost all areas, including concepts, philosophy, methodology, and usages. Grid Computing: Infrastructure, Service, and Applications reflects the recent advances in this field, covering the research aspects that involve infrastructure, middleware, architecture, services, and applications.Grid Systems Across the GlobeThe first section of the book focuses on infrastructure and middleware and presents several national and international grid systems. The text highlights China Research and Development environment Over Wide-area Network (CROWN), several ongoing cyberinfrastructure efforts in New York State, and Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE), which is co-funded by the European Commission and the worlds largest multidisciplinary grid infrastructure today. The second part of the book discusses recent grid service advances. The authors examine the UK National Grid Service (NGS), the concept of resource allocation in a grid environment, OMIIBPEL, and the possibility of treating scientific workflow issues using techniques from the data stream community. The book describes an SLA model, reviews portal and workflow technologies, presents an overview of PKIs and their limitations, and introduces PIndex, a peer-to-peer model for grid information services.New Projects and InitiativesThe third section includes an analysis of innovative grid applications. Topics covered include the WISDOM initiative, incorporating flow-level networking models into grid simulators, system-level virtualization, grid usage in the high-energy physics environment in the LHC project, and the Service Oriented HLA RTI (SOHR) framework. With a comprehensive summary of past advances, this text is a window into the future of this nascent technology, forging a path for the next generation of cyberinfrastructure developers. Essentially, it is a decentralized ledger for storing all committed transactions in trustless environments by integrating several core technologies such as cryptographic hash, digital signature and distributed consensus mechanisms. Over the past few years, blockchain technology has been used in a variety of network interaction systems such as smart contracts, public services, Internet of Things (IoT), social networks, reputation systems and security and financial services. With its widespread adoption, there has been increased focus on utilizing blockchain technologies to address network security concerns and vulnerabilities as well as understanding real-world security implications. The book begins with an introduction to blockchains, covering key principles and applications. Further chapters cover blockchain system architecture, applications and research issues; blockchain consensuses and incentives; blockchain applications, projects and implementations; blockchain for internet of things; blockchain in 5G and 6G networks; edgechain to provide security in organization based multi agent systems; blockchain driven privacy-preserving machine learning; performance evaluation of differential privacy mechanisms in blockchain based smart metering; scaling-out blockchains with sharding; blockchain for GIS; and finally blockchain applications in remote sensing big data management and production.
