All examples illustrated were originally looted from the Longmen site and are now p…reserved in overseas museums and private collections. Includes historical images along with modern photos, dramatically illustrating the destruction that has occurred as a result of the loss of these objects. A detailed inventory of what was originally in each cave, what has been removed and approxiate dates of removal have also been summarized. 136 pp., 100 objects illustrated in colour and/or b&w; many of which include 'before' and 'after' shots. Text in Chinese with list of plates and captions in English. Bottom edges of boards have some shelf wear; otherwise the book, jacket and internal pages all very good, clean and unmarked.
