".Tyrants always begin by persecuting the printers." Several of these issues are imprinted in red with the beautiful calligraphic signature of B. L. [Beatrice Lamberton] Warde (1900 -1969). Warde was marketing manager for the British Monotype Corporation from 1929 until her retirement in 1960. Warde authored the classic, THE CRYSTAL GOBLET: SIXTEEN ESSAYS ON TYPOGRAPHY.
