Warner, as well as another article (also by Warner) claiming that Europe before the rise of totalitarianism was moving towards temperance ("When Mid-Europe Was Going Democratic, Students and Youth Were Increasingly Non-Alcoholic"). *The International Student* was the official magazine of The Intercollegiate Association for Study of the Alcohol Problem.
