Plain dustjacket not present. Typeset from the then-only known copy of the 1856 edition (which belonged to Ed…Grabhorn). The play is preceded by Jane Grabhorn's essay, "A Short Acount of the San Francisco Stage Before 1860." One of 550 copies printed on English mould-made paper. With the bookplate of James Strohn Copley (1916-1973) (his sale, Sotheby's, June 17, 2010, lot 235). Copley was a journalist, newspaperman, and publisher of the San Diego Union-Tribune. A near fine copy; touch of rubbing to lower front tip, light offsetting from the pastedowns to facing blanks. Heller & Magee 212.
