Ink inscription to the front paste down, dated 1924. Ink inscription to the front free end paper, dated 1877. Daily Mail photograph of Queen Elizabeth II, dated 1943, pasted to the reverse of the front free end paper. Various articles concerning fairy tales, dated 1928, pasted to the rear free end paper. Loosely inserted is the bookplate of a previous owner. A collection of popular fairy tales, such as Cinderella, the Sleeping Beauty, the Three Bears, and Jack and the Bean-stalk, with some stories based on nursery rhymes. A page of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally smart, with some bumping to the extremities and the spine, particularly to the head and tail of the spine. The spine is also slightly sunned, but the boards are still bright. Internally, the binding is strained between pages 439 and 449, but otherwise firm. Pages are generally clean, with the odd spot and handling mark. A couple of the illustrations have been coloured in by a previous owner. Good. book.
