The volumes & illstrations depict the landscapes & city-scapes, the peoples, birds & animals of this enchanting country . . . depicting farming scenes (e.g. horse drawn haying carts); rugged mountain terrains; small mountain villages; sea ports; remote homesteads; cities (their scenes & architecture); many fishermen scenes; winter scenes with packed sleds pulled by horses . an exhaustive work on the geography of Norway and its colorful, interesting inhabitants. Ex-library cy. with accompanying stamps; each vol. has previous owner's name & date on one of front flyleaf pages. Front & rear endpapers are beautifully decorated with marbled/flowered paper as are the most attractive red quarter leather boards. The red leather spines have raised bands and are gilt lettered & decorated. A bit of skuffing to lower spine of v.1 and rear endpapers of ea. vol. attributable to unfortunate removal of ex-libr. pockets.
