Met de meeste hoogachting aangeboden door den schrijver. Rotterdam 14 mei 1884". Johan Christiaan Neurdenburg (1815-1895) was directeur van de opleiding tot zendeling in Rotterdam. Dit exemplaar van de eerste druk heeft zowel op het oorspronkelijke omslag als op de titelpagina een overgeplakt impressum. Over het impressum van Stemberg is het impressum van Charles Ewing uit 's-Gravenhage geplakt, die in 1884 ook de 2e druk bezorgde.
