Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Special Edition. One of the most influential scientific works ever published, Principia Mathematica first appeared in 1687 and laid the foundations of classical mechanics and the law of universal gravitation. This handsome Easton Press Collector's Edition reproduces Andrew Motte's celebrated English translation, revised and annotated by the distinguished historian of mathematics Florian Cajori, with an introduction by Richard S. Westfall. Principia Mathematica; Sir Isaac Newton's Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy and His System of the World; Translated into English by Andrew Motte in 1729. The translations revised, and supplied with an historical and explanatory appendix, by Florian Cajori, Late Professor of the History of Mathematics Emerits in the University of California Introduction by Richard S. Westfall. Published by The Easton Press, Norwalk, Connecticut, 2000. Collector's Edition 'Bound in Genuine Leather'. Printed on archival quality paper. A beautifully produced full red leather hardback with elaborate gilt design and raised bands to spine. Soundly bound and no signs of the book having been read previously. No owner's marks or bookplates. Attractive silk moire pattern endpapers. Text is bright and clean. With page ribbon. All edges are shiny gilt. The vertical page edge has the appearance of light spotting - appears to be a minor production flaw where the gilt has not fully adhered to the page edges (hence the 'near fine' classification rather than 'fine/as new'. A handsome volume. Text in English. xli + 680pp. Dimensions: approx 239mm high x 160mm wide x 43mm deep. Weight: approximately 1250g (unpacked).

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Fine. 1st Edition. First Easton Press edition, 2000. Fine oversize leatherbound hardback issued without dust jacket, clean and unmarked. A relatively scarce Easton title. Some question as to how Easton actually catalogs this title. Spine says, "Principia"; half-title says, "Newton's Principia (Motte's Translation Revised)"; title reads (in full), "Sir Isaac Newton's Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy and his System of the World, translated into English by Andrew Motte in 1729. The translations revised, and supplied with an historical and explanatory appendix, by Florian Cajori, late professor of the history of mathematics emerits [sic] in the University of California.".
