(this came from a small collection of his books). A work on mathematical logic by American computer scientist, mathematician and philosopher, Alonzo Church. This includes his development of lambda calculus, work on the Church-Turing thesis, etc. He taught at Princeton from 1929 to 1967, and had Alan Turing as one of his doctoral students. James A. Clarkson was an American mathematician known for his work in number theory. He served as an operations' analyst during World War II, earning the Medal of Freedom. This work contains several chapters on lambda definability that lays the groundwork for lambda calculus. Church also discusses the Russell Paradox, the existential quantifier, Godel's Theorem and other subjects. GOOD condition. Title handwritten on the front cover and spine. Moderate general toning.
