Text block is firm. Foxing throughout with some toning. Paper label "John B. Leefe" affixed to front pastedown (which may well be New Orleans slave trader John Bentham Leefe, 1805-1876); old colored wax pencil note on front free endpaper; unpaged title leaf has volume# abraded but Charleston imprint of 1842 which, of course, does not correspond to the two 1844 issues bound within.
