Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - 'Norfleet' is a gripping first-hand account of one man's relentless pursuit of justice across the early 20th-century American landscape. After being swindled out of his life savings by a professional gang of international confidence men, Texas rancher J. Frank Norfleet refused to accept his loss. Instead, he transformed himself into a self-taught detective, embarking on an epic four-year man-hunt that spanned thousands of miles across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This remarkable narrative details the intricate methods used by swindlers of the era and the even more remarkable tenacity of a man determined to bring them to account. Through Norfleet's own words, readers gain insight into the high-stakes world of stock market scams and 'big store' con games that proliferated during the 1920s. Part true crime thriller and part western autobiography, 'Norfleet' remains a classic testament to individual perseverance and the rugged spirit of the American West. The work offers a unique perspective on the evolution of crime and law enforcement during a transformative period in American history, documenting how a private citizen successfully dismantled a sophisticated criminal network that had eluded professional authorities. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. Accompanied by a Supreme Court of the United States visiting card, inscribed by Warren E. Burger, "For Philip Rizik with appreciation Warren E Burger" and additionally signed by his wife Elvira StrombergÂBurger. Rare and desirable. An attractive image of this important court which presided over a number of issues relating to equality and freedom. The Warren Court is best known for its landmark decisions, which outlawed segregation in public schools and transformed many areas of American law, especially regarding the rights of the accused, ending public school-sponsored prayers, and requiring "one manâ"one vote" rules of apportionment of election districts. He made the Supreme Court a power center on a more even basis with Congress and the Presidency, especially through four landmark decisions: Brown v. Board of Education (1954), Gideon v. Wainwright (1963), Reynolds v. Sims (1964), and Miranda v. Arizona (1966).
