Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good+. Illustrated by Eloise Burns (Wilkins) (illustratore). 1st Edition; 1st Printing. B&W Illustrations; This book was illustrated by Eloise Wilkins (nee Burns). This book is in Very Good+ condition and is lacking the dust jacket. The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. There is a very slight slant to the spine of the book and some beginning bumping and rubbing to the corners and spine ends. The text pages are clean and bright. The top edge of the text block has some darkening and foxing and there are several larger spots of foxing to the bottom edge of the text block. The book includes a color frontispiece and four black and white illustrations by Eloise Burns (later Wilkin). This is a very early example of Eloise Wilkins' art and was possibly created before she left art school. "Mabel Louise Robinson (July 19, 1874 February 21, 1962) was an American writer of children's books. She was passionate about writing books for young adults. Her "primary goal in life [was to] write books for young women, showcasing the protagonists worth, intelligence, and sensitivity". Robinson reached her goal by "bring[ing] realistic and believable young adult problems to modern girl readers looking not only for excitement and fun but for honestly and reality as well. Additionally, [she] created vivid characters with whom girls could easily identify ". Robinson was a runner-up for the annual Newbery Medal twice. " (from Wikipedia).

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. This two book listing includes two different editions of the same title with both books being printings of the early 1950?s. 1) - the first book - - Prayers for Children - - is a Little Golden Book and features illustrations by Rachel Taft Dixon. This 6.75 x 8.0 inch copy lacks any dust wrapper and is an early 1950?s printing of this title with the letter ?P? showing on the final paper page. This copy is in about very good condition with time-wear and shelf-wear showing to the paper-over-cardboard covers and with the text pages in at least very good condition - - with no writing or damage showing. This copy has a previous owner?s handwritten name on the inside of the cover on the printed bookplate. 2) - the second title - - Prayers for Children - - also a Little Golden Book - - is apparently a first printing of this second design under the Little Golden Book series with the same title but illustrated here by Eloise Wilkins with the letter ?A? on the last page. This copy is also in very good condition with a touch of wear to the corners and spine extremities, the binding is still firm, and the text pages in at least very good condition. This copy has a handwritten previous owner?s name dated 1954. These two book have the same title but are different in cover and text design - - with different pictures on the front covers, different illustration's for the text and apparently a different mixture of traditional prayers - - with some prayers showing the author?s name with the prayer and other prayers with no author listed. These two books each show a listing of the titles for The Little Golden Library on the back covers with different decoration and design for the two listings.
