The lead author, Will Grohmann (4 December 1887 in Bautzen; died 6 May 1968 in Berlin), was, according to his Wikipedia entry, "a German art critic and art historian [who] specialized in German Expressionism and abstract art. He was known as the 'godfather of modernism'" (Wikipedia). No date of publication but perhaps early-mid '30s?
