Aggiungi al carrelloSoftcover. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Exceedingly scarce French language homage to the life and work of Vassily Kandinsky, published in a short run by the Institute of French Studies at Columbia University, bound in softpaper card stock, moderately rubbed exterior, a bit sunned along edges, but clean and unmarked of interi…or. Unopened top and fore-edges. Table of Contents inside front flap, then contributions by Will Grohmann, F. Morlion and Georges Marlier, each being art critics and historians, and then by working artists such as Christian Zervos, W. Baumeister, M. Seuphor, A. Sartoris, J.W.E. Buys, Diego di Rivera, Andre de Ridder, E.L. Cary, Galka E. Scheyer, and with bibliography and checklist. Long range of sharp and distinct black-and-white illustrations, printed on high-gloss paper, the final being a fine likeness of him. The lead author, Will Grohmann (4 December 1887 in Bautzen; died 6 May 1968 in Berlin), was, according to his Wikipedia entry, "a German art critic and art historian [who] specialized in German Expressionism and abstract art. He was known as the 'godfather of modernism'" (Wikipedia). No date of publication but perhaps early-mid '30s? His entry in an art history dictionary notes his having published over 500 essays on more than 150 artists including Kandinsky, but also Munch, Matisse, Picasso, Miró and others, and well over 1,000 newspaper articles and an untold number of Forewords and Introductions to exhibit catalogues.forewords.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
