Bound in full brown leather with gilt lettering against a black background on the spine; this boards are scuffed on the edges and there is a chip missing from the bottom of the spine; the leather hinges have cracked with the rear board nearly detached, but still holding. The interior is clean except for previous owner's name and purchase information in an early hand on front fly. The text is clean and unmarked, with subtle pages that have light scattered foxing and toning. NOT ex-library. Overall, a good solid copy in original binding. Illustrated frontis. Rare.
