Although the play on which the film is based was also a musical, an entirely new score was written for the film. Gershwin was originally suppose to compose the score for the film as well, but Cole Porter eventually completed the task. Shot on location in California and New York. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.

Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. William Anthony McGuire was a noted playwright, theatre director, and producer and screenwriter, with 38 film credits from 1912 to 1941, primarily as screenwriter but also as producer and writer of the source material. Of note is the mimeo snipe on the verso of the photograph stating McGuire will "produce 'The Great Ziegfield' for Universal." McGuire did not produce the 1936 film but wrote the screenplay, and was the only screenwriting credit which earned McGuire an Academy Award Best Picture nomination. McGuire wrote, directed, and produced the films "Twelve Miles Out" (1925) and "If I Was Rich" (1926), and wrote and directed "Rosalie" (1928), "Whoopee!"
