Chronicle of the 2nd Expedition down the Colorado River by Major John Wesley Powell (1834-1902) in 1871-1872. Artist and adventurer Frederick S. Dellenbaugh (1853-1925) served as Artist & Assistan Topographer of this Expedition. He was a young man under twenty years old then, but had already acquired the discipline of keeping daily journals and became the adventure's unofficial chronicler. This account was written some forty years later from his field notebook. Excellent supplement to Powell's account(s), and a virtual handbook for modern adventurers bent on shooting the dangerous rapids of the Colorado. Strong copy w/a tired soft cover.…
