Das Kaliber der Lehrer und Gastdozenten, die unter der neuen Leitung von… Douglas McAgy an der CSFA tätig waren, war unübertroffen, und die Schule hatte den Ruf, eine der avantgardistischsten Kunstschulen ihrer Zeit zu sein. Die Fotografen Ansel Adams und Minor White waren ebenso vertreten wie Edward Weston, Dorothea Lange, Imogen Cunningham, Lisette Model, Nancy und Beaumont Newhall und Homer Page. Drei der ehemaligen Schüler von Ansel Adams und Minor White - Ira H. Latour, C. Cameron Macauley und William Heick, die später als die »Drei Musketiere« bekannt wurden - begannen mit der Planung eines Buches, das sich auf die Fotografieabteilung der CSFA konzentrieren und die Jahre zwischen 1945 und 1955 abdecken sollte, den Zeitraum, den einige als »Das goldene Jahrzehnt« bezeichnet haben. The caliber of teachers and guest instructors assembled at the CSFA under th…e new directorship of Douglas McAgy was unmatched anywhere, and the school had the reputation of being one of the most avant-garde art schools of its time. On hand were photographers Ansel Adams and Minor White, along with Edward Weston, Dorothea Lange, Imogen Cunningham, Lisette Model, Nancy and Beaumont Newhall, and Homer Page. Three of the former students of Ansel Adams and Minor White-Ira H. Latour, C. Cameron Macauley and William Heick, later known as the 'Three Musketeers'- began planning a book that would focus on CSFA's Photography Department, covering the years between 1945 and 1955, the period some have referred to as 'The Golden Decade.'
