GOOD OLD BOY was first published in 1971 by Harper & Row and features the author's reminiscences of his boyhood escapades in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Although no direct printing statement is provided upon the copyright page, this Yoknapatawpha first printing-first state differs from second state copies in that the latter have light beige cloth bindings and have the book's correct ISBN 0916242099 printed on both the dj front flap and copyright page whereas the former, i.e. this first state, has an incorrect ISBN 0916242091 at both spots.
