Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. New York: Ronald L. Smith, 1955. First edition. November, 1955 / whole number 46/ issue number 12 under the name Inside and Science Fiction Advertiser (which is the last name for the famed sci-fi / fantasy fanzine, which was also published under the earlier names "Fantasy Advertiser" and "Science Fiction Advertiser", though the primary focus was always Science Fiction). Ron Smith became the Editor/Publisher with the November, 1954 issue, which was also the first under this name. Octavo, stapled illustrated wraps, 42 pp. Very Good plus to about near fine; two chips at bottom front cover, peripheral toning (see scans). s This November / 1955 issue was published as Ron Smith was continuing to improve the fanzine, which had been erratic in quality in prior years; 1956, yet to come, would be perhaps the best year. Though credited artwork is still sparse, there's plenty inside to enjoy; a rare short story - "Infiltration" by Carl Larsen - and articles, editorials, essays and reviews by editor Smith, William L. Freeman, Randall Garrett, Robert Silverberg, Lin Carter, Dave Mason, James Blish, George W. Price, Carl Larsen, Joe Schaumburger, R.S. Montague, S. Ostlund, Bob Tucker - all these pieces being, and having always been to this point, the meat of the fanzine under its several names. See scan of contents page. A rarity, for the collector. l-pr1. Aggiungi al carrelloOriginal Printed Wrappers. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. San Francisco: Sierra Club, 1922. First Edition. First published Ansel Adams photographs. Vol XI, No. 3, for 1922. This was published during a several-year time period when the Sierra Club did not stipulate the month of an issue, just the volume, the number, and the year; monthly designations for such an infrequent publication having always been somewhat unnecessary in any case. Original printed wrappers, 9 1/4" x 6 1/4", 113 pp. + numerous unpaginated photographic plates, features and ads - including two very precious shots which are the first published Ansel Adams photographs. Buff stapled wraps, Very Good or better, and internally fine, of course. Circuit binding (yapp binding) was used, in which cover edges were intentionally extended out beyond page edges, but over time the extended part becomes pressed inward somewhat (see third scan for the unusual degree of this is this issue). A handsome copy. See scans. Binding sturdy, contents fine. See scan of contents page for the lineup of impassioned club writers and their always engaging and adventurous topics. In addition to the two early and memorable Ansel Adams shots mentioned above, this issue is chock full of photographic plates by the club's best photographers, as well as others, including Ansel E. Adams, Marion Randall Parsons, Ray J. Baker, C.S. Carlsmith, Walter L. Huber, J.N. LeConte, E.A. Hornuth, C.S. Tappaan, Ansel F. Hall, W.B. Putnam, Chester Versteeg, George J. Young, Harold C. Bradley, Howard C. Tibbitts, and George L. Beam, as well as several uncredited artists. SC2. Ansel E. Adams, Marion Randall Parsons, Ray J. Baker, C.S. Carlsmith, Walter L. Huber, J.N. LeConte, E.A. Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. 1st Edition. The paper's first 34 issues bound in one volume. Imperial folio. Paginated consecutively. Pp. vi, 554. Illustrated throughout. HARDCOVER, bound in the original publisher's half calf and marbled boards, spine decorated, lettered and dated in gilt, sides gilt ruled; binding rubbed & chafed in places, worn in places, restored in places, withal a good binding; few closed tears without loss at bottom of leaves. In a very good condition. Overall a well preserved, tightly bound, clean, presentable copy. ~ FIRST EDITION. The paper's first issue, first complete volume, first complete year. Published as a volume with Title, Preface and Index, in 7 January, 1843. Rare survivor, a landmark in the history of journalism. The Illustrated London News was the world's first illustrated weekly newspaper. The first issue, 16 pages with 32 woodcuts, appeared on Saturday, 14 May, 1842, marking a revolution in journalism and news reporting. Completely exceeding the publishers' expectations, it had to be reprinted several times that day; the issue went through five reprints and sold 26,000 copies; the present issue is of the fourth printing. (Issues 4-8; 10-16; 18-20; 24; 27; 28; 30; 34 are first reprint; issue no. 2 is 3rd reprint; no. 9 is 2nd reprint.) Five issues later, it was time for jubilation: "Probably, in the whole annals of Newspaper History, the triumphant success of 'The Illustrated London News' is without a parallel; it has received from the public a welcome, warmer and wider than we could anticipated even in the buoyant enthusiasm of our first ambition. From the length and breadth of the Empire we have received the most flattering testimonials." The present volume contains all first 34 issues and a Supplement. Each issue is stamped at bottom with the legendary red Tax Stamp. Also present is Issue no. 15, a rare collectible in itself, which appeared with the erroneous header "No. 10, July 16" instead of "No. 15, August 20". It is neatly corrected here by contemporary hand. Y-1. ~ ~ NOTE: TOTAL REDUCTION SALE: THE PRICE OF THIS BOOK IS CURRENTLY REDUCED! ~ ~ (illustratore).…
