Canal Country by Emily Williams (1982) is a richly illustrated regional history that traces the route of the Chenango Canal through nearly 100 miles of upstate New York, from Utica to Binghamton. With photography by Helen Cardamone and a foreword by historian David M. Ellis, the book blends architectural and local history, capturing the charm and heritage of canal-era towns and landscapes. It serves as both a visual travelogue and a tribute to the cultural legacy of New York?s canal system.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. 1st Edition. UTICA TO SACKETS HARBOR STAGECOACH COUNTRY WILLIAMS & CARDAMONE 1976 DJ SIGNED. Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: A journey through the pages of Stagecoach Country is a trip back to the early 19th century along a road amply endowed with house of magnificent workmanship and enduring beauty. The road is the old stagecoach route from Utica to Sackets Harbor. Most of it was laid out by 1804, and the stagecoaches ran on this route from about 1812 until the railroads appeared in the 1850s. Today the route is a principal thoroughfare from the Mohawk Valley to Lake Ontario, and motorists may glimpse the same handsome buildings which the bonneted and top-hatted travelers viewed from their stagecoach windows. I am pleased to be able to offer you: Stagecoach Country Utica to Sackets Harbor, text by Emily Williams and photography by Helen Cardamone. The book opens with a Foreword by David M. Ellis, the New York State Historian who was chairman of the History Department at Hamilton College. This large hard cover book (9 ¼ x 12 ¼ inches, 122 pages) was published by the Author and the Artist, copyright 1976 and I believe a First Edition as no other editions found. It is flat signed by the both of them on the front endpaper. The book is bound in sky blue cloth with a gilt title on the spine; it is protected by a pictorial dust jacket. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There has been some fading or sunning to the dust jacket, particularly on the spine and it is lightly soiled and showing some very minimal edge wear. The hard covers on the other hand are immaculate, clean and bright and unbumped. Inside, the only mark I found are the signatures on the front endpaper; the interior pages and photos are clean and bright, from cover to cover. Both hinges are fully intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. My apologies for the glare on some of the photos, very hard to avoid with the high gloss fine paper on which this book is printed.
