Limited edition of 199 of which this being No 186. Mugglegate was born in Walnut Tree Yard, now called New Street, Bishopsgate in July 1609. During the Commonwealth period of revival of religious thought when numerous strange and mysterious sects were created he founded the Muggletonians who's greatest rival was George Fox of the Quakers. This bitter rivalry led to the publication of various books in which the opposing views of the Society of Friends and his Sette was aired and led to him being imprisoned and pilloried put in the stocks and following The Reading Room of the Muggletonians 7, New Street Bishopsgate being the closest modern building to his place of birth. The Muggleton family came originally from Northamptonshire where the name still survives in the village of Wilbarston. He was married three times his 3rd wife Mary Martin, daughter of John Martin, Tanner of East Malling Kent was 28 years his junior and survived him for 20 years.
