Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good Plus. 1st Edition. First Printing. Signed and inscribed by the author to the actress Mary Kay Stearns (and Johnny) on the front free endpaper. The book would be fine save for foxing of the top, bottom and front of the text block. Else book is free of internal marking, spine is tight, boards rigid and tips are pointed. The jacket is not price clipped, has some slight frey and tear at spine ends and some edges though looks quite smart in its shiny new plastic cover. Shipping box is suitable for wrapping with a non-price listed purchase order inside along with biodegradable packing. This book is from the estate and association copy of actress Mary Kay Stearns of the T.V. comedy show "Mary Kay and Johnny." Wikipedia states, "Mary Katherine Stearns was an American actress best known for portraying the fictional version of herself on the sitcom Mary Kay and Johnny from 1947 until 1950. The series was the first sitcom to air on television, the first television series to feature a pregnancy, (the Stearns' real life son Christopher), and the first to feature a couple sharing a bed.". Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 406pp. Orange cloth lettered in black at the spine and upper board with a double blind border and an ornate black-stamped rule. Publisher's disclaimer slip tipped to the head of the first text leaf, as issued. Backstrip ends gently bruised and the free endpapers lightly spotted. A very good copy of the author's uncommon fourth novel. No dust wrapper. Mais' novel includes a thinly-veiled portrait of his old friend Henry Williamson, who appears as 'Brian Stucley', a poet living in North Devon and shares characteristics not dissimilar from some that Williamson's friends found so lamentable in himself. Nearly a decade later Williamson responded in kind, depicting Mais as 'Masterson Funicular Hengist Zeale' ("the only man in England who, having written nearly a hundred books, still has an adolescent enthusiasm for literature") in his 1935 novel 'Devon Holiday': an altogether less unkind portrait.
