No Binding. Condizione: Good. Cooper; Ould; Willie Gurganus; and Allan Gurganus. GENERAL ORDERS. NO. 87. Adjutant and Inspector General's Office, Richmond, December 10, 1864. 13pp, final three pages blank as issued; thread-bound pamphlet with original thread. Oval Rebel Archives stamp: impression is faint but generally legible. Rather edgeworn with some creasing, a dog-ear, light dampstain, irregular toning, flecks of dirt, with facing pages 12 and 13 very dirty and dusty; as is. Consists of a "Roll of Honor" (as described at the beginning of text) listing honorees by battle (as "Battle of Seven Pines") and state and company, asterisks marking the killed in action, parenthetical notices advise later deaths, "(afterwards killed at Sharpsburg)" and so forth. The Roll to be read "to every Regiment in the service, at the first dress parade after its receipt." We note that Willie Gurganus, private of Company E North Carolina Infantry, was killed 19 Aug in the vicinity of Weldon Rail Road. Please email with questions or to request photos. This Confederate Imprint is one of more than 100 recently acquired, most with 'Rebel Archives' stamp on the cover, indicating that these were the actual copies seized by the Union Army at the end of the Civil War. A remarkable collection.
