Presumed first edition (no direct statement provided but with matching dates upon title and copyright pages). xii, 472 pages. Hardcover: H 23.75cm x L 15.75cm. Dust jacket separated into two pieces by a jagged tear running across front panel with large chip at top left; other small chips, creasing, tears, and toning; dj laid-in at rear endpapers. Dark blue boards; scuffing at spine ends and board corners. Text block edges toned with leaves slightly affected at margins. Ink signature "Willis J. Ceding to the group attribution the book's text does not credit any specific individuals but it seems likely that Baughman was involved in writing authoring this manual by circumstance of his position and academic background. Baughman stayed with the Navy until 1948 when he accepted a teaching position at the University of Alabama where he remained until his retirement. …
