Illustrated by Birkett Foster (whole-page b/w drawings - see example images). AEG. Marbled endpapers with patterned decorative gilt borders (fleur de lis). The text on each page is framed by red ink borders. Condition (external): really sound with some edgewear/fading in places. Internally, the impact of the passage of time is more obvious with mild to moderate tanning; plus occasional spotting throughout. This phenomenon is more apparent on the book's preliminary and final pages. pp.x vi, .630/8vo. NB we have tried to date this book from an entry at the end of the Preface - see image.
