Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. The pregnancy of Mary, the 14 year old mother of Jesus, may well have been the first documented case of a minor being abused by a priest. And, when he denied it and said God was the father in a crowded temple marketplace it was part of a chain of events that were to change the world. The priest's declaration Mary's child was the Son of God, when overheard by Persian Magi priests, inspired them to believe he was to be the great King of the Jews the stars of their astrology based religion had predicted. And then, Hebrew priests concurred, saying he was the Savior prophesied by their religion. Can you imagine what it was like for Jesus, as a normal human child, boy, and man, to cope with being told he was this special? Today, we are so far removed from what life was like in the Palestine of his time, that we can hardly imagine what he faced. It was brutal, primitive and barely civilized, with sparsely populated tribes and city-states combining many cultures. Both slavery and indentured service were rampant and women and girls were considered as property; not unlike sheep and goats. And, as the seaport funnel where east met west, transit merchants from many countries mingled with the natives. It was into this mix of many cultures that a series of coincidences had combined to script the life of unborn Jesus as the predicted Savior. First, Jesus's mother Mary, at four years old, was given to a Temple as an offering, probably in lieu of a sacrificial lamb. At 14 years old she was sold by the Temple to a widower who found her to be pregnant and attempted to return her. Then a Temple priest, who had probably defiled her, refused to return the purchase price, saying her unborn child was a Son of God. This was heard in the Temple's marketplace by many and quickly spread throughout the country, becoming accepted fact. As a historical figure Jesus has had much written about his life. Much is in the Gospels which has undergone significant re-translation. However, factual secular data is also available today that allows us to picture his personal life as an ordinary man. And from this we are able to piece together how he struggled to live up to the expectations of the role placed upon him. He tried his best to respond to those expectations and how he managed makes a fascinating story. Finally, after a lifetime of searching, Jesus came to believe that everyone, and everything, are integral parts of a spiritual realm of evolving consciousness. And, that direct communication with this spiritual realm exists, and can be nurtured, bypassing the need for priests and their established institutions. When he and John the Baptizer taught this in Palestine it created a religious revolution that lasted several years. That they were quite successful is documented by voluminous accounts of multitudes of adherents, and of Jesus' debates in Jerusalem with temple scholars and theologians. In retaliation, Hebrew priests put down the rebellion by having him crucified. However, he survived the crucifixion and continued his teaching in safe secluded locations. This might have succeeded in keeping the revolution alive had not an ultra-conservative Hebrew Pharisee named Paul claimed he died on the cross, and then arose from the dead. This he said fulfilled a Hebrew prophesy, proved resurrection of the body was possible, and enabled Paul to found Christianity. As a result most of the records describing Jesus' teachings saved in the Gospels were translated to reflect Christian, and not Jesus' concepts, or they were simply forgotten. Therefore, based on voluminous historical data, the purpose of this book is to assist modern men and women to understand how and why Jesus developed his spiritual philosophy; know what his spiritual philosophy really entailed; and how his spiritual philosophy can be applied to modern lives.
