The estate was purchased for an Anglican evangelistic centre and dedicated in 1946. The founders 'were agreed upon a three-fold basis of evangelistic work: "(i) the need for personal conversion; (ii) team work on a basis of complete honesty and frankness; and (iii) putting all activities and plans under the direction of the Holy Spirit".'
