Jackie Cooper spares no one, not even himself, in this astonishingly outspoken account of his multifaceted career. As a child actor and later as a teenager he was exploited and manipulated by everyone he knew. By the age of twenty he had survived Hollywood's most demanding pressures. He had known Hollywood's worst deceits and experienced its greatest temptations without ever having been allowed to make a decision concerning his own life.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Autobiography of celebrated Hollywood child actor, later adult actor and director/producer Jackie Cooper. Signed in blue ink by Cooper on half title page thus: "Jackie Cooper." Signature unconditionally guaranteed to pass any COA examination. Accomplishments: A breakout star as a member of Our Gang (1929-1931), soon after nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in Skippy (where the security guard faked a shooting of Cooper's dog to trigger him to cry), later appeared in several successful ca. 1930's movies, served in the Navy in WWII (decorated with the Legion of Merit), then appeared in numerous ca. 1950's TV productions, perhaps most notably as star of The People's Choice with the infamous basset hound, Cleo. Later yet, he won two Prime Time Emmy awards for director of 15 of the first MASH episodes - these among many additional achievements in an unusually long career. Note that Cooper autographs are uncommon in this, his only book. Book club edition with dust jacket in archival Brodart sleeve. 301 pp. 8 1/2" x 5 7/8". Tight, unmarked copy with minimal shelf wear to book and dust jacket. A beautiful copy of an important Hollywood collectible.
