Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This study is concerned with the economic theory of exhaustible resources. My interest in exhaustible resources dates back several years when prof. dr. J. Cramer and prof. dr. C. von Weizsacker stimu lated me to direct my research, at the Faculty of Actuarial Science and Econometrics of the University of Amsterdam, to the exploitation of Dutch natural gas. This issue raised many theoretical problems, in which I got gradually more and more involved. I was lucky to find in prof. dr. H. Weddepohl a person prepared to listen patiently and to read and critisize my numerous attempts to solve these problems. The actual work on the present monograph started in 1982 at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Eindhoven University of Technology, in the context of the program 'Equilibrium and Dis equilibrium' of the 'voorwaardelijke financiering' (universitary financing system). I wish to thank here my supervisors prof. dr. P. Ruys and prof. dr. H. Weddepohl for their comments on earlier drafts of this monograph. When looking back, I realize that their remarks and our dis cussions have led to notable improvements. Also the Internation~l Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (Laxenburg, Austria) has made a valuable contribution by offering me the opportunity to spend three months in its serene academic environment in the summer of 1983. Thanks also to the energy group of I. I. A. S. A. and the I. I. A. S. A. foundation Netherlands.

Aggiungi al carrelloHardback. Condizione: New. This book offers insight into the current developments in mathematical economics. The book is intended for a broad audience and technicalities are kept to a minimum. The issues addressed include general equilibrium, price competition, auctions, environmental policy, networks, dynamic (in)stability and bounded rationality. Moreover, the book contains a survey and appraisal of the work of Claus Weddepohl, to whom the volume is dedicated. In his academic career, Claus Weddepohl made important contributions to the development of mathematical economics. He did so in his own writings on general equilibrium theory, the theory of markets and on economic dynamics. He was also a stimulating teacher and inspired the scientific research of many of his colleagues.

Aggiungi al carrelloBuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book contains essays in honour of Claus Weddepohl who, after 22 years, is retiring as professor of mathematical economics at the Department of Quantitative Economics of the University of Amsterdam. Claus Weddepohl may be viewed as th~ first Dutch mathematical economist in the general equi librium tradition of Arrow, Debreu and Hahn. The essays in this book are centered around the themes Equilibrium, Markets and Dynamics, that have been at the heart of Weddepohl's work on mathematical economics for more than three decades. The essays have been classified according to these three themes. Admittedly such a classification always is somewhat arbitrary, and most essays would in fact fit into two or even all three themes. The essays have been written by international as well as Dutch friends and colleagues including Weddepohl's former Ph. D. students. The book starts with a review of Claus Weddepohl's work by Roald Ramer, who has been working with him in Amsterdam for all those years. The review describes how Weddepohl became fascinated by general equilibrium theory in the early stages of his career, how he has been working on the theory of markets throughout his career, and how he turned to applications of nonlinear dynamics to price adjustment processes in a later stage of his career. The first part of the book, Equilibrium, collects essays with general equilib rium theory as the main theme.
