The biggest problem is that most of the photographs have separated from the long strip that once bound them. Extremely rare; OCLC shows the Minnesota Historical Society and Columbia U. with the only other known copies as of August, 2024. Rare early photographs of St. Anthony Falls, Silver Cascade, Fountain Cave, Barn Bluff at Red Wing, Maiden Rock, Lake Pepin, Interior Fort Snelling, Dalles of the St. Croix River, Minnehaha Falls, Chippewa Indians, Castle Rock near Farmington, White Bear Lake, Chester Creek Falls ("Near Lake Superior"), Lake Calhoun, Sugar Loaf near Winona, and "Bluffs on the Road to Homer". Original stamped cloth, front board soiled with substantial discoloration at the right side. 13 of the pages of illustrations are connected (several folds are mended or reattached) with this group detached from the binding. The 14th illustration, a portrait of Garfield, is laid down inside the front cover. An interesting memorial piece published three years after Garfield's death.…

This work carries the highest price ($1.50) of the books listed, presumably because it has a larger format and contains more views than the standard viewbooks, including the other views of Chicago. …
