This book is the result of a ten-years' collaboration between a Chinese scholar and a distinguished American poet. It consists of three hundred poems of the T'ang Dynasty, the golden age of Chinese poetry, done into English. The original collection was made by an anonymous Chinese editor in the eighteenth century and was modelled, in the number of poems chosen (311), on the Confucian Book of Poetry.
