Braun freundlichst zur Untersuchung übergeben und fühle mich gedrungen, hierfür meinem hochverehrten Lehrer, der mich ausserdem noch in der mannigfaltigsten Weise mit Rath und That unterstützte, meine innigste Erkenntlichkeit auszusprechen." (S. 1). - L. Wittmack war stellvertretender Preisrichter bei der Weltausstellung 1867 und Gründer und erster Direktor des Landwirtschaftlichen Museums in Berlin. 1874 habilitierte er sich an der Universität Berlin. Von 1880 bis 1913 war er Professor für Botanik an der Landwirtschaftlichen Hochschule in Berlin, von 1880 bis 1920 Professor für Botanik an der Tierärztlichen Hochschule in Berlin. Von April 1889 bis März 1891 und nochmals von April 1910 bis März 1912 war er Rektor der Landwirtschaftlichen Hochschule Berlin. - Modernes Exlibris nach einer Radierung von Hans Meid, Einband etwas berieben, Innengelenke leicht angeplatzt, schönes Exemplar.
