This book delineates the conditions that in the 13th and 14th centuries gave rise to the widespread creation of ethical and religious literature in the Judeo-Arabic language. This work follows the influence of these writings into the 14th century, when they were adapted and translated into Judeo-Spagnioli and Judezmo, influencing non-elite readers and stimulating new forms of literary production. This text will be of great interest to scholars of medieval Judeo-Arabic literature and Islamic, Jewish and Christian thought in the Middle Ages.
