Darüber hinaus entzieht sich seine kanonische Subjektlosigkeit scheinbar jeglichen grammatischen Bedingungen für Leer-Kategorien. In diesem Buch stellt sich die Autorin diesen und anderen mit dem imperativischen Modus und Satztyp verbunden Problemen und entwickelt dabei auf der Grundlage des minimalistischen Prinzipien- und Parametermodells eine umfassende syntaktische Theorie des Imperativs. Im Fokus ihrer Analyse liegt die strukturelle Repräsentation des imperativischen Modus und deren Entwicklung im Westgermanischen und Romanischen.
