Although sometimes found in two volumes, this work was originally issued in one volume as it is here. A note on the final page instructs the binder that "Extra titles will be found in this Part, to enable Subscribers to bind the Work in Two Volumes, if preferred. Vol. II may commence at page 417." These title pages are not present here which may indicate the present binder would have discarded them as the book bound in one volume. Note: In red ink on the front free fly has a number S-202, which I presume to be a private personal catalogue number. This publishers binding instruction is very unusual and of interest for those interested in publishing binding history.
