Boulestin opened his eponymous restaurant in London in 1927 and immediately aimed high, making it the most expensive restaurant in the city at the time. Boulestin's impact within the culinary world is wideranging, with culinary legend Elizabeth David citing his work as an inspiration. Boulestin published prolifically, capitalising on his success, particularly in the 1930s. This work was published alongside other books which aimed to provide the public with high number of recipes for everyday meals including What Shall We Have To-Day? 365 Recipes for All the Days of the Year and Potatoes: One Hundred & One Ways of Cooking. His writing partner in these works was his business and life partner A. H. Adair, an Irishman born in Malta to a military family. This copy is in good condition but has clearly been well used in the past.
