Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book by the author discusses the significance of a well-rounded medical education. It starts by asserting that many young physicians did not have the opportunity to apply their knowledge practically. The author describes the study of medicine as a learned profession that is too often entered into without full consideration of its responsibilities. The author laments that many physicians only aspire to a medical degree rather than the acquisition of knowledge. The author believes that the study of medicine is often entered into lightly, and that young people are not always fully apprised of the great difficulties which lie before them, of the important influence these professions have upon communities, of their heavy responsibilities, and the indispensable necessity to concentrate their minds, and devote all their energies to the acquirement of knowledge. The author believes that it is a high moral obligation on his part to prove to readers of this book the great importance, and to impress upon them the necessity, as well as high moral obligation on their parts, to obtain a proper knowledge of those branches of medical studies which are necessary to form an accomplished, useful, and good practical physician. The book discusses essential branches of medical study such as anatomy, institutes of medicine, materia medica, chemistry, obstetrics and diseases of women and children, surgery, theory and practice of medicine, and clinics. The author impresses upon the reader the importance of each field and how they contribute to the education of a well-rounded physician. This book is significant in that it highlights the importance of a comprehensive medical education and the responsibilities that come with being a physician.
