The present paper discusses the rangeland situation in Oman, distinguishing two main categories: the somewhat deteriorated rangelands in the Oman Mountains and surrounding areas in northern Oman, where desert and semi-desert vegegation dominate, and the Dhofar area in southern Oman, a unique green spot greatly benefiting from the seasonal south-west monsoon in the summer months.
