Sunning to the front cover near the spine; residue from an early price sticker; otherwise, only light shelfwear. A fairly presentable copy of the first collection by this noted poet. Silko is probably most recognized for her 1977 novel, Ceremony which among other things, tackled ethnicity and identity and is among the works associated with the movement often referred to as Native America Renaissance. This present copy of Laguna Woman is an uncommon first work by an important voice in American literature.

Paperback. Condizione: Very good. Leslie Marmon Silko and Aaron Yava (illustratore). First edition. 35 pp. Octavo [23 cm]; tan illustrated wrappers saddle-stitched with two staples, as issued. There are around a dozen tiny stains on the front wrap, from some splashed liquid. Otherwise this copy is in near fine condition; clean and tightly bound throughout. Silko, who grew up on the Laguna Pueblo reservation in New Mexico, is often referred to as the premier Native American writer of her generation. Her work often draws upon the stories she heard in childhood, as well as the dissonance between American Indian and white cultures. This is the first edition of the author's first book. The book features 18 poems and 2 printed illustrations by Leslie Marmon Silko, and 3 illustrations by Aaron Yava.
