This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Concrete is the most widely used construction material since it has the lowest ratio between strength to cost as compared to other available materials. Over the years many researchers have been able to overcome the inherent weaknesses of concrete thereby making it significantly more suitable for a wide variety of applications. The introduction of reinforcement by short discrete fibers (steel, nylon and polypropylene) that are randomly distributed can be practiced among other that remedy weaknesses of concrete such as brittleness, low crack growth resistance, low durability, etc. Fiber-reinforced concrete is a composite obtained by adding a single type or a blend of fibers to the concrete mix. The use of one type of fiber alone helps to eliminate or reduce the effects of only a few specific undesirable properties. Based on previous studies, the addition of two types of fibers in a suitable combination would help to improve more properties of concrete among the fibers. This aspect of combining the fibers, i.e. hybridizing the fibers in a rational manner to derive maximum benefits, is investigated in project for a very high strength concrete was studied. 56 pp. Englisch.…

The coating is a water-based intumescent coating system into which fire retardant agents, ammonium polyphosphate (APP) phase II, melamine (MEL) and pentaerythritol (PER), recycled chicken eggshell (CES) as a bio-filler and silica fume (SF) as a binder have been incorporated. The influence of filler and binder on the properties and fire-resistive performance of the coatings applied on the steel plates were investigated by using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscope (SEM), small scale Bunsen burner test and furnace test. Thermal stability of chicken eggshell (CES) as bio-filler was compared with that of commercial calcium carbonate filler by TGA. The results indicated a higher thermal stability for the CES. TGA results showed that by adding CES as well as silica fume (SF) as a binder has increased the residue weight and anti-oxidation of the coatings. The combination of CES and SF with flame retardant additives led to the best fire resistance performance, the highest thermal stability and the densest surface structure. 64 pp. Englisch.…
