The dust jacket has several small stains on the front side as well as several tiny specks of stain as well. There is some light water staining near the edges. The dust jacket has some wear and creasing. The back side has some small light brown spots known as foxing (a phenomenon that occurs from a chemical reaction in the paper over time). The book's covers also have some light brown staining as well. The first few pages also have some foxing (see picture of the title page). The pages are free from markings and highlighting. See pictures for more details.

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. The first written history of the Outrigger Canoe Club. Original oatmeal cloth titled with the Club's logo in red 25x26cm, in colour illustrated jacket. Printed by Star Bulletin Printing Company, Honolulu. 144pp, richly illustrated in b/w and colour. Covers near fine with faint stain to the front and logo slightly faded. Interiors near fine with a non-authorial gift inscription dated 1973 to the ffep. The jacket, in a Brodart style removable protector, is very good with a closed tear and nicks to the edges, and some spotting. The idea for this book took shape in 1968, when the Club's Historical Committee led by Kehaulani Kea Stowell began to develop and catalogue an archive. In 1969, under the new President Ernest H. "Tommy" Thomas, the Committee appointed Yost to write it, and met most weeks thereafter to move things along, until the final draft was approved with the PR Committee in 1971 (Foreword). The main part is the history, with a section at the end describing the modern Club at Diamond Head. It emphasises Alexander Hume Ford's role in reviving and popularising the ancient aquatic pastime of surfing via the Club, which he launched in 1908 on a shoestring, and how the Club grew and adapted to changes over the next decades. The photos were sourced from Bishop Museum, Archives of Hawaii, and the State Public Library. This looks to be rare with only 13 locations on Worldcat, none on Library Hub (OCLC 10012008).
