Condizione: Very good. Six letters, one type written and five hand written, between surrealist painter Wolfgang Paalen, and Lafayette Young III, a bookseller in San Diego, who created a salon that drew poets, artists and writers his shop, and was a close associate of Henry Miller. The letters dated from 1943 to 1948, much of it writing about their families and developments in their lives, but the typewritten letter from 1943 talks of his trials getting out the current issue of DYN to publication and his new collaboration with painter Gordon Onslow Ford and his wife writer Jacqueline Johnson. The one letter from Young is handwritten, possibly a first draft, of his response to receiving at new issue of DNY from Paalen. The last two letters from 1948 are of Paalen's upcoming exhibition in San Francisco and of his hopes to see his friends again. Included are four envelopes, one with Paalen's address, and one envelope from the Hotel Empire in San Francisco. The letters are in very good shape, with some wear or creasing along the edges.
