The author was the librarian of North West Territories legislature, 1891-1898; and organized the Canadian Women's Press Club; sent to England on special immigration work, 1906; died in British Columbia; wrote under pseudonym Mary Markwell; also known as Yukon Bill, K. Simpson Hayes, and Catherine E. Simpson Hayes (University of Alberta).
