Le peintre précise .Permettez-moi de vous rappeler que quelque soit le prix que l'on offre de ces uvres,…je tiens à être avisé avant qu'un réponse définitive soit faite.Elève de Paul Delaroche, Adolphe Yvon se fit connaître grâce à ses tableaux de bataille (La bataille de Koulikovo, 1850 ; La bataille de Solférino). Il fut professeur à l'école des Beaux-Arts de Paris et membre de l'Académie impériale des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Pétersbourg.
