His career in type design spanned the three most recent stages of printing: hot metal composition, phototypesetting (also called cold type), and digital typesetting. His two most famous typefaces, Palatino and Optima, were designed in 1948 and 1952, respectively. Most items ship with tracking numbers and(generally over $15.00) jacket protectors if applicable. Clean recycled packing material will be used when possible.

A single sheet poster printed in black and light brown in Zapf's Hunt Roman with Palatino Kursiv types, and Attika (decorative) units. Oblong, 330 x 435 mm. A poster in Fine condition, now in a clear, archival quality, protective display pocket. Hermann Zapf (1918-2015) was a German type designer and calligrapher. Typefaces he designed include Palatino, Optima and Zapfino. He is considered to be one of the greatest type designers of all time.

Each plate features a quotation about Freedom (by Hegel, Kant, Maugham, The Book of Common Prayer, Wendell Willkie, and Salvador de Madariaga, expressed in Zapf's exemplary letterforms. There is a paragraph of explanation on an overlay for each plate (one overlay is missing, however).
