Dylan (or rather his agent at the time, Al Grossman) contracted with Macmillan to write Tarantula in 1964, but for various reasons, not the least of which was Dylan's motorcycle accident in July 1966, the book never made it to the press. Tarantula was not commercially published until 1971.
