Soft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. First Edition. Wraps (PB) in near fine condition. n 1969 Joe Zucker started making paintings out of Johnson and Johnson cotton balls soaked in acrylic paint and then applied to canvases in patterns that schematically described simple images. These vibrantly-colored objects had the homemade look… and riotous surfaces until then most commonly seen in homecoming floats and indigenous folk crafts. Although the boundaries and materials of art had already been greatly expanded (most recently by the radical ventures of artists in the early 1960s), the focus of works, whatever the unlikeliness of their materials, had always remained firmly within the realm of fine art. Zucker's overtly rowdy paintings, with their impermanent and populist look, were an anomaly. They appeared to have crossed over from the wrong side of the tracks. Limited. Exhibition catalogue. 84 p. 74 ill. (7 color). Catalogue of 56 works exhibited. Preface by Robert T. Buck; chronology; exhibitions; collections; bibliography. One of 1500 copies printed. Zucker, Joe (illustratore).
