"Over 400 pages of 'Original Thought' by the greatest angling thinkers this country has ever known make this the book that every carp angler regardless of experience will want to own. A unique piece of carp angling history with superb photography throughout. There is a well known old English saying that 'two heads are better then one' when it comes to solving a problem! It was with that saying at the back of my mind that in 1991 I came up with the idea of the Rotary Letter. Not that it was a totally original idea however, since the likes of Dick Walker and his friends had a very similar thing going many years ago. I just suddenly found myself with the greatest angling minds at my disposal; the equivalent of the Mensa of carp fishing minds, the UK's top thinking anglers, and I was quick to make use of this huge pot of knowledge. These few were my original 'rotarians' - Rod Hutchinson, Kevin Maddocks, Jim Gibbinson, Steve Allcott, Zenon Bojko and me of course. Who could argue that I'd got the creme de la creme of original thinking? Funnily enough this 'meeting of minds' happened a couple more times in the next 25 years as editor and owner of Big Carp magazine, and each time I resurrected the Rotary Letter again." The book has contributions from eighteen of the finest carp anglers around. .

To "celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Big Carp magazine, this series of books entitled 'Big Carp Legends' will encompass the greatest names in carp fishing history over the past two decades. The content of the books in this series will be a mixture of articles from the archives of Big Carp, life histories of famous anglers and original articles specially commissioned for the series." Told in his own words, this is the story of Albert Romp's fishing career. "One of carp angling's characters and founder member of the Savay syndicate - the 'Looney Rota' was named so because of him. Sally the carp was named by him when he caught the country's biggest ever 'winter caught' common, many moons ago, and for a while Sally was the world's best-known carp. Inventor of the unhooking mat, Albert rocked the angling world a decade later by smashing the record brace with two huge spawny monsters from the North Bay. Pioneer of Cassien, the rivers Lot, Seine and Yonne and Bulgaria, Albert is a seasoned traveller, but his heart has always been on the banks of Savay. Now here's your chance to learn all about this iconic angler from his early beginnings at Furnace, Chobham and Pippingford, fishing alongside the icons of the seventies - Hutchinson, Little, Middleton and Maddocks in the Colne Valley, always with long-time fishing buddy, Bob Baker." To "celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Big Carp magazine, this series of books entitled 'Big Carp Legends' will encompass the greates names in carp fishing history over the past two decades. The content of the books in this series will be a mixture of articles from the archives of Big Carp, life histories of famous anglers and original articles specially commissioned for the series." Told in his own words, this is the story of Steve Briggs' fishing career. Briggs' career as a serious carp angler began with a 27lb 12oz fish at Brooklands, which would have been his first 20lb+ capture, and a hard to beat personal best, had the fish not been foul-hooked. The frustration of this, and probably a sneaking sense of guilt which turns up here and there in the text, spurred Briggs on to beat this near-miss legitimately. In his first season in the Darenth Valley, he caught four thirties "a feat unheard of at the time" and went on to explorehundreds of waters at home and abroad in search of huge carp; Belgium, Holland, Morocco, Portugal, Lake Raduta, South Africa, Rainbow, the St. Lawrence, Lake Ontario, Austria, and elsewhere. "In fact, he has caught carp of over 50lbs from five different countries. Being the only angler in the world to do this is his claim to fame." Steve Briggs was one of the pioneers of Lac St. Cassien, and his book Cassien .and Beyond, is profitably read in conjunction with this autobiography. Cassien .and Beyond, our stock no. 25426, reduced from GBP 30.00 to GBP 9.95. This first edition has an incorrect ISBN (9780951512715) printed within the book. Colour photographs, b/w illustrations by Gareth Fareham, colour maps of the lakes. Black boards, upper board and spine titled in gilt. Mint in dust-wrapper. "The Yateley Complex and its famous carp are known by every carp angler in the country and probably most of the world for that matter. Although they have never produced a record carp, Bazil, Heather, Jumbo and their mates have been pursued by the UK's top carp anglers for over fifty years. Think of any famous carp angler in the last half-century and you can bet your life he's trodden Yateley's sacred grounds. Some only fished the odd season; others have spent a good part of their lives in pursuit of these legendary carp. They would all tell you that Yateley is a very special place. It has that unique vibe that very few carp waters aspire to. Why? Well it's a combination of factors: beautiful surroundings, peace, awesome scaly beasts with a reputation for being difficult to put on the mat, a great camaraderie within the syndicate and a chance to become part of England's great carp heritage are just some of the reasons. Yateley meant different things to different people: to some it was a way of life, to others an obsession, but for certain no one that fished Yateley ever took catching its residents lightly. This book compiled by Alan Cooper and [Rob Maylin] represents just a fraction of Yateley's history; it would have taken ten volumes and not two to include every angler who had achieved a personal best or goal. What we have tried to do is encapsulate the essence of this special complex. We have experts on the stockings and the early years and chapters from the anglers who caught these legends at their best weights. "Each lake has its own introduction written by Alan, and there are beautiful maps and drawings to accompany every lake on the complex. We have also tried to include every carp that ever lived at Yateley - not an easy task, but one we have taken pleasure in achieving. Not every famous angler who ever set foot on Yateley is mentioned here, but most are." PREVIOUS PRICE GBP 29.95.

Colour and b/w photographs, colour map illustrations. Green boards, spine titled in gilt. Fine new copy in dust-wrapper. Derek 'The Don' Ritchie recalls his fifty years of angling memories. "This flamboyant and, dare I say, eccentric carp angler with his love of trance and electronic music, clubbing and laser light shows at the water's edge has dominated most of the southern waters he has fished, so don't be fooled into thinking that his loud music has detracted from his catches - far from it! Derek is as keen these days on his carp fishing as he has ever been whether it be here in his native UK or the many waters in Europe that he has conquered. I have been telling Derek for a number of years that he should have written a book, or probably two books, with the amount of fishing he has done. Finally he has done just that, and within the pages of this book you will hear, for the first time anywhere, Derek's wonderful life story of carp fishing. .This book covers fifty years of fishing, from the very early days in Essex on the top waters of his day, his legendary days on the Manor and Cleverley, right up to his current angling at the Rise and abroad. It's filled with history, hilariously funny from start to finish and without a doubt the book of the year! So, sit back, put your feet up with a cold beer and read up about England's most flamboyant, fun loving and all round great bloke, Derek 'the Don' Ritchie. Get it on with the Don!" Chapters include:- Cockney born and bred; The player; Israel; More to life than just fishing; All at sea; The Essex Carp Society; Waveney Valley; The Manor; Manor madness; It's showtime; In pursuit of the record; One hundred twenties; The future of fishing; Features; Cleverley Top Lake; Ladywell; Cleverley Mere; Along the way; Bluebell - Swan Lake; Foreign fishing; The only way is Essex. "Ritchie is without doubt one of big carp fishing's true legends. He dominated the seventies and eighties catching more 35lb-plus carp than anyone of that era. Propelled into stardom in the early eighties with the capture of the North Lake Forty [Bazil], two pounds over the official British record [which he refused to claim, maintaining that Chris Yates was the true record holder], he became a household name and soon had a weekly column in the Angling Times chronicling his exploits at Lake Cassien. Foreword by Rob Maylin. Green boards, spine titled in gilt. Fine new copy in dust-wrapper. Book IV in the Big Carp Hunters series. "Big Carp Hunters is a new series dedicated to a very special group of anglers: anglers who over the years have quietly gone about their angling with relentless dedication, not seeking fame or fortune, rarely publicising their catches, targeting the biggest and hardest carp in the country to catch solely for their own satisfaction. Often these campaigns require huge amounts of effort, both physically and mentally. This sort of fishing is not for everyone, certainly not for the fainthearted. The demands on normal life are incredible, and very often there are consequences." Craig Lyons is a carp angler of wide experience, although still relatively young. His experience encompasses waters such as Sutton and Sutton-at-Hone, waters in Kent, and expeditions after big known fish in many of the London reservoirs and the Colne Valley. His first book, Carp Addiction, was published as a limited edition in 2013 and sold out very quickly. "Craig is without doubt a big carp hunter; he's been there, done it and worn out the t-shirt, and I feel very privileged to have him as part of this series. However, whether he should have been in the Legends series [instead] is up to you, the reader, to decide." Chapters include: Where it all started; Sutton - the history maker; Sutton at Hone - carp fishing Mecca; Walthamstowe Reservoirs - oasis within a s**t hole; Birch Grove - a holiday venue; Tolpits - circuit water success; Walthamstowe revisited - and a Redmire week; Carp angler of the year - Sutton and The Manor; Further afield - Canada and France; Korda - the essence of carp angling. ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 2013). 2013 1st edition. Large 4to (215 x 305mm). Pp287 [numbered 305-592]. Colour photographs, b/w illustrations by Gareth Fareham, colour maps of the lakes. Black boards, upper board and spine titled in gilt. Near fine in slightly used dust-wrapper. Signed by Rob Maylin. Not every famous angler who ever set foot on Yateley is mentioned here, but most are." .

Foreword by Rob Maylin. Green boards, spine titled in gilt. Fine new copy in dust-wrapper. Book I in the Big Carp Hunters series. The demands on normal life are incredible, and very often there are consequences." "Dave is a carp angling phenomenon. His ruthless determination is unequaled, as anyone who knows him will agree. Very secretive in his angling, Dave has targeted many waters off the radar. For a ten-year period through the nineties, Dave smashed every venue he campaigned. His accolades include the Black Mirror twice and all the other Colnemere residents, and all the Yateley 'royalty' - Bazil, Heather, Jumbo and Arthur (only two or three anglers have done this). At Wraysbury he once again ticked all the boxes, naming his own fish and catching Mary at a near record weight. In fact everywhere he went, he caught. Today he's out there on another secret venue fishing for dreams. just doing it!" Includes many previously unpublished pictures, as well as much material describing the development of the author's approach to his task, particularly as regards baits. .

"Canal carping has become one of the fastest growing areas of carp fishing in recent years in the UK, not that there's anything new in carp fishing canals, as this book will soon prove. Some carp anglers have been fishing canals almost exclusively for decades, and of course canal carping in countries like Holland and Belgium is commonplace. .This book focuses on English canal carp angling with just a couple of examples of what is available if you wish to travel." Chapters include: Tactics and techniques - canal technical, by Danny Champion; The Royal Military Canal (Kent and Sussex) - a tale of two records, by Bill Phillips, the Town Stretch, by Ken South; The Chelmer and Blackwater Canal (Essex) - mystery and secrets, by Matt Lee, canal life, by Jade Martin, a whole new world, by Matt Lee; Canal catches; Cheshire Canal, by Lee Colford; The Dudley Canal - The Black Country Cut, by Josh Myatt, The Dudley Canal system, by Darren Dunn and Anthony Williamson, urban legends, by Craig McEvoy; The Sankey Canal (Lancashire really, now in Cheshire and Merseyside) - the unstable campaign, by Lee Colford; The South Holland Main Drain (Lincolnshire), by Liam Chapman; The Wyrley and Essington Canal (S. Staffordshire), by Neil Horton; The Grand Union Canal (London to Birmingham) - Grand carping, by Dan Cleary, Grand Union Canal cracker, by Dan Sibley, unknown possibilities, by Keith William, Colne Valley escapees, by Nick Helleur, Basingstoke Canal record, by Danny Champion; Overseas canal carping - a tale of three fifties, by Dan Cleary." A huge variety of canals with one common denominator - dedicated canal carpers!" .

"It's all very well having the latest 'all-singing all-dancing rig' and this year's 'wonder bait' but using them effectively and at the prime time of year is another ballgame entirely. .Effective seasonal combinations are a very diverse subject, and warm weather carping is very different to cold weather. This volume concentrates on warm weather fishing, and our collection of experts .each divulge their own unique way of making sure they are top rods on their chosen venues. .Seasonal tactics and techniques is a vast subject, which is why we have devoted two separate journals, one for spring/summer and one for autumn/winter. Use these two books in conjunction with Advanced Terminal Rigs, Bait and Baiting Strategies and Watercraft, and you will have the complete 'knowledge' for catching carp all year around." To "celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Big Carp magazine, this series of books entitled 'Big Carp Legends' will encompass the greates names in carp fishing history over the past two decades. The content of the books in this series will be a mixture of articles from the archives of Big Carp, life histories of famous anglers and original articles specially commissioned for the series." Told in his own words, this is the story of John Harry's carp fishing career. His "love afair with Savay Lake has spanned over thirty years. He has seen and been part of every era this historic lake has been through. John fished alongside Lenny Middleton, Kevin Maddocks and Andy Little during the birth of the hair rig. When Rod Hutchinson wrote 'the Carp Strikes Back' and enthralled the carp world with his tales of Savay's monsters, John was by his side. Alongside Peter Broxup, John fished for three decades; his dedication, his enthusiasm and his knowledge - second to none. 'The Famous Five', 'The Loonies' and 'The Toads' offered John the utmost respect. John's black cab became part of the scenery. His bestselling book, Savay, came out almost twenty years ago, so don't think for one minute that you have heard this story all before - you have only heard a fraction of this tale. John is not only a great angler but also a great thinker, or do these facets walk hand in hand? Never one to sit back and hope, John's mind led him to come up with methods, tactics and ideas never before published. His latest ideas regarding hooking arrangements and leading will astound and educate." PREVIOUS PRICE GBP 24.95.
